Srirangapatna (Mandya), Nov6: Mandya MP Ramya has kicked up a controversy by calling a ZP engineer stupid.
“Stupid, summane burude bidthiya (you only concoct cock-and-bull story). Can’t you provide drinking water to the people?,” the actor-politician said to Hanumanthaiah, assistant executive engineer (AEE) of the Mandya Zilla Panchayat, during her tour in the Mandya parliamentary constituency.
During her visit to Ganangur village in the taluk, the residents of Indira Nagar Layout complained that they were facing acute shortage of drinking water. They said that the lone tap in the colony was not working.
They complained against the indifferent attitude of the officials concerned. Irked, Ramya took Hanumanthaiah to task and called him ‘stupid,’ after the latter failed to provide a proper explanation.
The MP then called up P C Jayanna, the chief executive officer of the ZP, over phone and asked him to resolve the water problem in two weeks’ time.
