Bangalore, October 6:  As many as five cars and a motorcycle that were parked in Venkataranga Puram 2 cross in Vyalikaval police limits were damaged by miscreants in the wee hours of Saturday.

Residents of the area alerted the police after seeing the smashed windshields, windows and mirrors and saw dents over the motorbike. Police said that the attack had gone unnoticed as residents were asleep at the time. They suspect that the assailants were inebriated and may have been residents of a nearby slum.

The damages indicate that the miscreants may have used rods and stones to smash the glass. Residents also told the police that some rods had been kept near the houses for road repair work.

The police said that there were no CC TV cameras in the vicinity thereby making it difficult to identify the miscreants. Surprisingly, even the car alarms had not gone off despite the extent of damage done to it. A few police personnel who were patrolling nearby saw the damaged vehicles around 2.30 am indicating that the incident took place in the wee hours of the morning.

The Vyalikaval police have registered a case and are investigating further.
