Bangalore, Sep 19:BJP in Karnataka today said it would seek the Governor’s intervention for removal of Infrastructure Development and Information minister Santosh Lad for his alleged involvement in illegal mining.

“Tomorrow we will meet the Governor and present a memorandum to him, requesting him to direct the Chief Minister to remove the minister from the cabinet,” former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council D V Sadananda Gowda told reporters here.

“State BJP will resort to agitation if the Chief Minister does not take action on him,” he said.

Accusing Lad of keeping his partnership deed and other related documents away from public domain, Gowda said the V S Lad and Sons mining company, of which Santosh Lad is a partner, has been named in the Lokayukta report for committing illegal mining activity.

“All these facts have come out recently, I urge the Chief Minister to take action and remove him from the ministry,” he said.

Reminding Chief Minister Siddaramaiah about his padyatra to Bellary against illegal mining activities while in the opposition, he said “Santosh Lad is one of the persons named in the Lokayukta report, now CM is keeping silent and not translating his words as opposition leader into deeds.”
