Some strange movement inside the Corporation bank ATM, near BDA complex, grabbed their attention. They saw a man standing before ATM. First they thought him to be a customer as customers visit many ATMs in these areas. However, they got suspicious when Praveen noticed that man was holding a cutting player in his right hand. Srinivas alerted Praveen on seeing damaged CCTV cameras. It was an unguarded ATM.

In lightning speed, both rushed towards the ATM and hearing their footsteps, the youth turned around and started running. Chasing him for nearly 50 metres, Srinivas and Praveen caught him and took him to police station.

The miscreant, identified as Govind Kumar, 19, from Bihar, had no option other than confessing to his crime as police recovered the cutting player from him. Working as a maid with a fashion designer in Guttahalli, Govind Kumar is said to have influenced by a recent ATM heist.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Govind had damaged the CCTV inside the ATM. “He had smashed the CCTV installed inside the screen of the machine. He was trying to dismantle the machine and was looking for the screws that fix the machine into ground,” police said.
