Rowdy hacked to death in broad daylight

GirishBangalore, Aug 10, 2013, DHNS: A career criminal was hacked to death in broad daylight allegedly by members of his own gang on Mysore Road Saturday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Girish alias Circle Girish (37).

According to police, Girish dropped his son at a sports complex and was proceeding to a private club when his car was intercepted by a multiutility vehicle and two motorcycles. The assailants, identified as Thangalu Chandrashekar, Srikanth and Ganga, rear-ended Girish’s car till it came to a halt.

“Even as Girish got off his car and took to his heels, the assailants struck him with lethal weapons and attacked his driver Kuppu also,” Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Kamal Pant, said.

Both Girish and Kuppu were rushed to Rajarajeswhari Medical College Hospital. However, Girish was declared dead on arrival, Pant said.

According to police, Girish and Chandrashekar were partners in crime. Several cases of attempt to murder, abduction, dacoity cases were registered against them. Girish was a habitual offender at the KG Nagar police station and was jailed for his criminal activities.
After his release from prison in 2011, he started a money lending business with Chandrashekar.

The two parted ways over some differences, recently. Girish had allegedly attacked Chandrashekar on an earlier occasion. Police suspect the latter retaliated by killing Girish.
Chandrashekar and Ganga were arrested from their residences, while Srikanth surrendered at Chamarajpet police station. Police are on the look out for five other suspects. Kengeri police have registered a case.

Youth stabbed to death

A 23-year-old man was killed by his friend over a prize money dispute during a cricket match near the ESI quarters at Indiranagar on Saturday.

The victim, Appu, a resident of Appareddy Palya, Indiranagar, was stabbed in the abdomen with the sharp end of a wicket by his teammate Abhishek following an argument over the prize money, Indiranagar police said.

Appu was rushed to St John’s Hospital where he was declared brought. Abhishek is absconding.

Man hangs self

An employee of a garments factory hanged himself to death over a petty family dispute.
The deceased Manjunath, 35, was staying with his wife Shruti and one-and-a-half-year-old daughter in a rented house in Virat Nagar.

Police said the couple had an argument over a petty issue on Friday night and the wife left the house in a huff with her daughter.

When she returned home, she found Manjunath hanging from the ceiling in the house. Madiwala police have registered a case.
