Driver killed, 5 injured as car falls into ditch

ChikkaballapuChikkaballapur, August 6, 2013: A 27-year-old man died and five others were injured when the car they were travelling in fell into a ditch and caught fire near the Kuppahalli railway gate at Nandi Cross in the taluk in the early hours of Tuesday.

Mohammed Tanvir, a resident of Kadugondanahalli Layout in Bangalore who was driving the car, died on the spot. Abrar Ahmed, 26, Jubeel Ahmed, 28, Azeez Khan, 28, Mohammed Asif, 27, and Mohammed Ibrahim, 26, all residents of the same area, were injured and are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bangalore.

The accident occurred when the victims were on way to Bangalore after visiting a dargah near Nandi village and Tanvir lost control of the vehicle. The fuel poured out of the car tank and it caught fire. The five injured who were stranded in the car were pulled out of it by the passengers of another car moving in front of it.
