Failed in exam, student ends life

exmaBangalore, August 4;Depressed at failing in her exams, a fourth semester engineering student hanged herself at her home in Netravathi Nagar, Devasandra on Sunday morning.

She was identified as Babita Glory, 21, a student of CMR College, Whitefield. She was living with her mother, D Mary, in Devasandra.

On Sunday morning, Mary called her daughter to attend Sunday Mass. Babita, however, declined to join her mother and remained at home. Mary, who went to church alone, called Babita an hour later to inquire if she had breakfast. Babita did not answer any of her calls,

Mary called her landlord who lives on the ground floor. The landlord went upstairs and looking through the window, saw Babita’s body hanging from the ceiling fan in the hall.

With the help of neighbours, Babita was rushed to a private hospital where she was declared brought dead. KR Puram police have registered a case.

Police sources said that the girl had not disclosed her examination results to her mother.
Motorcyclist killed

A scooter rider was run over and killed by a BMTC bus near St John’s Hospital junction on Saturday afternoon.

Syed Barak, 65, was on his way to his furniture shop in Bamboo Bazaar, when the accident occurred.

Police said his scooter was struck from behind by a BMTC bus and he sustained severe head injuries. Although he was rushed to a hospital nearby, he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning.

Shivajinagar traffic police have seized the bus. They have registered a case of death due to negligence against the BMTC bus driver, M Krishnappa, and arrested him. He was later released on bail.
