Nine killed in two accidents

neniMolkalmur/Kamalapur, August 4;Nine persons were killed in two separate road accidents in Molkalmur of Chitradurga district and Kamalapur in Gulbarga district.

Five persons were killed and 17 others were injured in a head-on collision between a tanker and a Shahpur-bound KSRTC bus near Bommagondana (BG) Kere in Molkalmur taluk in the little hours of Sunday. The accident occurred on the Bangalore-Bellary State highway. The tanker loaded with fish was on its way to Tumkur from Mantralaya.

The deceased have been identified as bus driver Shahapura Lingappa (53) of Tumkur and Haneef, Nayaz, Bakshu, and Shan – all from Gulbarga. They were all travelling in the tanker.  The injured passengers of the bus have been rushed to the Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS), Bellary. Molakalmur police have registered a case in this regard.

Car turns turtle

Four persons were killed when a car in which they were travelling turned turtle on the Bidar-Srirangapatna National Highway at Kudremukh curve in Bheemanala Cross near Kamalapur of Gulbarga taluk on Saturday.

The dead are Venkatesh Suresh, 20, of Shaktinagar, Gulbarga, Anil Lakshman, 27, of Basavanagar, car driver Gajendra Gururaj Matthimuda, 23, and Mallinatha Devindrappa Kattimani, 21. They died while being shifted to a hospital. Another person, Ananda Chandappa of Hale Jewargi Road, has sustained grievous injuries and is admitted to a private hospital. The deceased were on their way to Gulbarga from Humnabad.

Kamalapur police have registered a case.
