Mysore, August 3, 2013: Pakistani actress Veena Malik, who was to attend the screening of her maiden Kannada film ‘Silk Sakkath Hot Maga’ at Gayathri Theatre here on Saturday, cancelled the visit as Sri Rama Sene activists gathered at the veue and opposed her arrival.

The film’s entire crew also did not make it to the event scheduled for 1.15 pm. Sources told Deccan Herald that the actress did arrive in Mysore but stayed off after being alerted about the protests. The film’s lead male character, Akshay, however, is said to have visited the theatre later in the evening.

The Sene activists raised slogans against the actress, dismissing her as a “Pakistani import”. They also alleged she might be “an ISI agent and a security threat”. “We do not want an actress from Pakistan even as there is ample talent in India and Karnataka,” they stressed.

The Police Commissioner, M A Saleem, said that security had been provided at the three theatres screening the film since Friday itself, in the wake of intelligence inputs.
