The popularity of flash mobs have made a smooth transition from TV sets and Youtube videos to the streets of India. So much so, the flash mob bug has caught on in the smaller cities as well, with people organising these ‘impromptu’ dance performances in shopping districts, theatres and even in the middle of crowded streets.

Though, it’s safe to say that such initiatives have been mostly lauded, there are times that such events may prove to be more of a hinderance. One such case seems to be at the Payyanur bus stand in the Kannur district of Kerala, according to some media reports.

The bunch of college students dance to the popular number Lean On by Major Lazer and DJ Snake at a crowded bus stand. All goes well till the end of the song, when the students start clapping — giving onlookers the impression that the performance is over. But seconds later, the group forms a line again and start dancing to another song, and that proves a bit too much for one of the onlookers, who comes rushing in and hits one of the girls performing.

According to reports, the woman — unconfirmed reports identify the sari-clad lady as the girl’s mother — was tired of waiting for the flash mob to finish so that traffic could start moving and the bus could go. But since the performance went on too long, she lost her cool and slapped the girl in front, scolding the whole bunch for stalling traffic.

The video has subsequently gone viral and is being widely shared on social media platforms.

It’s safe to say that after watching this reaction, these kids will think twice before planning another flash mob.
