Shivaraj S Tangadagi

New Delhi, July 27, 2013: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G Parameshwara said on Saturday that the party had given a clean chit to Minor Irrigation minister Shivaraj S Tangadagi, who was mired in several controversies.

Speaking to reporters, he said the party’s State unit had submitted a report to the party high command, giving a clean chit to Tangadagi in all controversies, including his reported role in protecting the construction of a house by his brother on encroached land.

Parameshwara was here to attend the meeting called by the party top brass on the Food Security Bill. He said that after an inquiry in all controversies involving Tangadagi, the party came to the conclusion that the minister was innocent.

It was alleged that Tulasi Maddineni, the then Deputy Commissioner of Koppal district, was transferred at the behest of Tangadagi, after she upheld a case of land grabbing against his brother.  Several parties demanded the sacking of the minister for his alleged role in protecting the illegalities of his brother. However Chief Minister Siddaramaiah defended the minister, saying that he had no role in his brother’s activities.
