BANGALORE: Dejected with her husband’s alcohol addiction, a woman committed suicide. Seeing her dead, her husband too has ended his life.
The deceased are Soubhagya Mallikarjun, 36, and her husband Mallikarjun Nanjundappa, 44. The incident has happened at Ashta Lakshmi layout in JP Nagar VII phase on Friday night. Hailing from Banavara village near Arasikere, Chickmagalur, the couple had settled in the city for the last two decades. Mallikarjun was a cab driver, while Soubhaguya worked as an assistant in a printing press near her residence.
“I heard my father shout. The door was locked. I rushed to my cousin’s house in the neighbourhood. With the help of neighbours, my cousin Kiran broke open the door. We found both hanging,” the couple’s son has told the police. Neighbours have told police that the couple fought frequently over Mallikarjun’s addiction.
