KOLAR: A youth dined with his uncle, brandished a chopper from his bag and beheaded him. He put the head in a box, carried it over 70km by truck and cab to reach Bangalore’s main prison, and surrendered.
This bizarre episode played out in a village in Kolar district where the youth killed his father’s younger brother, who he suspected was making advances towards his mother.
Shekar, 25, beheaded his uncle Govindappa, 38, when they were having dinner in a eucalyptus grove in Annenahalli, Kolar district, around 8pm on Wednesday. With the head in a box, he travelled from the village to KR Puram, Bangalore, in a truck, and boarded a maxicab to reach the Parappana Agrahara jail at 2.30am on Thursday.
Police didn’t believe him when he said he had killed his uncle. There were aghast when he took the head out of the box. They arrested him and took him to the Kolar Rural police station, where a case was registered.
