Bangalore: A young gym instructor, married just a month back, was killed on the spot when a speeding bus knocked down his motorcycle and ran over him on Hosur Road.

Pushparaj (23) alias Stephen Raj, a resident of Bommanahalli, was on his way to visit his father, with his brother Sunil on the pillion.

When they reached the National Diary Development Board, Pushparaj tried to overtake the bus — a BMTC Volvo — which had halted for passengers to alight. However, the bike’s handle glanced off the bus and Pushparaj lost control. He came under the wheels of the bus and was run over while Sunil escaped with light injuries. The Adugodi police arrested the bus driver and detained the vehicle.

WIFE ENDS LIFE

Fed up with her husband’s sexual jealousy, a young mother hanged herself in her home in Vidyaranyapura on Thursday. Police said Aruna Devi (19), married to Saravana Babu, a labourer, was constantly badgered by her suspicious husband.

Her suicide was discovered by neighbours who came to check why the couple’s three-month-old infant was crying unceasingly.
