Hassan; In violation of the Employment of Manual Scavengers and Construction of Dry Latrines (Prohibition) Act, 1993, a labourer was spotted clearing a pit next to a manhole near the Jayachamarajendra Hospital here on Thursday.
NO PROTECTIVE GEAR
He was not using protective gear while clearing the filth in a pit, which is close to the official residence of Chief Executive Officer of Hassan Zilla Panchayat.
The labourer refused to share his name with press persons and did not reveal the name of the organisation which hired him. Nagabhushan, Commissioner, Hassan City Municipal Council, said the council had not hired anyone for the work.
