Yaduveer Gopal Raj Urs will be the new scion of Mysuru Wadiyar family.

Mysuru, February 12th: The Royal family of Mysuru has a reason to joy. They now have a new heir in Yaduveer Gopal Raj Urs to continue with the Dasara traditions of the Wadiyar dynasty and continue the protracted legal battle for the acquisition of the Palace by the State Government.

Grandson of Princess Gayatri Devi, the eldest daughter of the last Maharaja Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar and the eldest sister of late Srikantadutta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, he is the son of Tripurasundari Devi and Swaraup Gopal Raj Urs. His adoption as the new heir was announced by Ms. Pramoda Devi Wadiyar at a press conference at Amba Vilas Palace today.

Yaduveer’s association with the Wadiyar family dates back to 200 years. He studied in Vidya Niketan School, Bengaluru and at the Canadian International School, Bengaluru to complete his standard twelve, after which he left for the U.S. He is currently persuing his BA, majoring in Economics and English at Boston.

The adoption ceremony will be held on February 23rd in a private affair. A public procession is being planned late in the evening. Consequent to his adoption, he will be renamed as Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar.
