CBSE 12: State students improve percentage

BANGALORE, May 28:  The suspense ended for Class 12 students of schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) when the board declared the results on Monday. Karnataka secured an overall pass percentage of 97.43. This is 0.97 percentage points higher than last year’s 96.46 per cent.

Here, 6,376 out of the 6,544 students have cleared the exam, with girls outdoing the boys with a pass percentage of 97.78 as against the boys’ 97.17.

The State also surpassed Chennai region’s average by 5.6 percentage points. The region, which consists of six States and four Union Territories, recorded a pass percentage of 91.83, the highest among all the other regions. The overall pass percentage of all regions in the country is 82.10.

Speaking To The Hindu over the phone, T. Sudharasan Rao, Regional Officer, CBSE, Chennai Region, said the region notched up an increase of 1.24 percentage points as against last year’s 90.59 percent. This year in Chennai region, 71,271 students out of the total 77,616 who appeared cleared the exam.

Goa tops again

Topping the Chennai region with a pass percentage of 98.87 per cent, Goa retained its top position, like last year. The pass percentage of other States and Union Territories are Puducherry (97.31), Tamil Nadu (96.40), Maharashtra (93.87), Kerala (92.90), Daman and Diu (92.79), Andhra Pradesh (92.25), Andaman and Nicobar Islands (65.68) and Lakshadweep (64.86).

City schools elated

A large number of schools in the city have recorded 100 per cent passes and students flocked to their institutions to celebrate their scores.

Kendriya Vidayalaya schools in the Bangalore region have fared well, recording a pass percentage of 97.92. Isam Pal, Deputy Commissioner, KendriyaVidyalaya Sanghatan, Bangalore Region said, “This has been our best performance so far and we have beaten our past records.”

Supplementary exams

Those who wish to sit for the supplementary exams may apply by June 21. The last date for application with a fine of Rs. 10 a day is June 29. The exams will be conducted on July 16.

In order to get their marks verified, students can file applications through the board’s website www.cbse.nic.in within five days from the declaration of result by paying Rs. 300 per subject. They can also apply either online from the 6th day or offline within 21 days from the date of declaration of results by paying Rs. 200 per subject.
