Hassan: The district administration has completed preparations for the four-day Hoysala Utsav beginning here on Thursday.
The event includes music programmes, dance, job fair, industrial exhibition and some games.
Public Works Minister H.C. Mahadevappa, who is also the district in-charge, will inaugurate the programme in Belur on Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner Umesh H. Kubusad, briefing presspersons here on Wednesday, said he had held meetings to review the preparations. “We have made arrangements for the participants to stay. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will participate in the valedictory programme,” he said.
Singers Rajesh Krishnan, Shaan, Raghu Dixit and Vijay Prakash will perform at the utsav. While the events on day one will be held in Belur, the remaining programmes will be at the district stadium in Hassan.
Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat U.P. Singh said nearly 5,000 job aspirants had registered for the job fair. More than 120 industries will be recruiting aspirants. “Around 40 multi-national companies will take part. We are hopeful that hundreds of unemployed youth will get jobs,” he said.
Ravi D. Channannavar, Superintendent of Police, said elaborate security arrangements had been made for the programme. “Hundred policemen would be on duty in two shifts. We have installed 15 CCTV cameras in the district stadium, where main cultural programmes will be held,” he said.
In the run-up to the utsav, the district administration conducted a half-marathon covering three kilometres in the city on Wednesday. Hundreds of schoolchildren took part in the event.
