Bengaluru:  Mehdi Masroor Biswas appeared in court on Thursday sporting a week-old stubble wearing a track pant and a T-shirt. He was flanked by a team of police personnel. He spoke in a calm tone to the judge, Somaraj. To specific questions on police harassment, he said he was allowed to sleep and given food on time.

City police sought 25 days’ custody of the IS tweeter for questioning, but Mehdi’s lawyer Jaffer Shah opposed it. Following arguments, judge Somaraj remanded Mehdi to 15 days’ police custody and instructed the police to avoid interrogating him from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Mamtaz Begum, Mehdi’s mother told media that they are confident of their son’s innocence and reposed faith in the judicial system.
