In Karnataka the DBT scheme for cooking gas will be rolled out in Mysore and Tumkur districts from June 1.

Mysore Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha told The Hindu that that consumers who are yet to submit their Aadhaar numbers and bank account details to the gas agencies should do it immediately to facilitate seeding of bank details with the Aadhaar number.

Ms. Shikha said the extent of Aadhaar coverage in the district was 92 per cent while the number of LPG consumers was pegged at around 5.18 lakh. Of them, 75 per cent had submitted the required documents.

In case of consumers who have already submitted the documents, the details have been matched and updated on the gas company websites (www.indane.co.in; www.hindustanpetrol-

eum.com; www.ebharatgas.com) and could be verified there.

For details, consumers may call 9448289974 (IOC), 9449041967 (HPC) and 9448282945 (BPC).
In Tumkur

There are 2.6 lakh LPG connections in Tumkur district. Only 40 per cent of people with LPG connections have Aadhaar cards and 15 per cent of them have a bank account. Hence the district administration is preparing to ensure that LPG customers get Aadhaar numbers and open bank accounts.

On May 17 and 18 the district administration has organised an Aadhaar seeding mela in Tumkur city where customers have to give details of their Aadhaar cards and bank account numbers to the LPG agencies to register for LPG subsidy.
