Bengaluru: The 14-year-old girl from Tirthahalli, who died on October 31 in a private hospital in Manipal, had reportedly consumed rat poison. The Forensic Science Laboratory has reportedly finalised the toxicology report of the deceased and has submitted it to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which is investigating the case.
According to official sources, the FSL had earlier allegedly confirmed that the teenager had consumed poison, but took some time to verify the poison because of lack of sufficient ‘sample’ in the viscera.
“After extensive verification and cross-matching of the toxic material with various poisons the forensic experts have concluded that the girl had consumed rat poison, which may have led to uncontrolled vomiting and cardiac arrest,” said an officer on condition of anonymity.
The CID may register a case of suicide (Section 309 of the Indian Penal Code). “The investigation is almost complete and the CID may file a ‘B’ (closure) report in the case,” said the officer. The FSL report was submitted to the CID on Monday.
