BANGALORE: Opposition party JD(S) has decided not to go after the Congress for the next five months, but allow the victorious party to have the ‘honeymoon period’.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, JD(S) state chief HD Kumaraswamy said: “We will not attack the Congress for four to five months. It’s the honeymoon period.” However, he said that his party would keep a watch on each and every department in the government to ascertain their functioning. He said each of the 40 MLAs would be entrusted with the responsibility of keeping track of a department.

When asked who would be the opposition leader, he said it was yet to be decided. “The role of the opposition leader is very important. He is the watchdog. We are not hurrying it up. We will decide in sometime,” he said.

Meanwhile, the former CM said there were discrepancies in the counting of votes at the Sindhagi constituency and the party would fight the issue legally.
