Bengaluru:  Here is some good news for patients visiting the state-run Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology (KMIO). The institute has acquired a new C.T. Scan (16) slice machine following which the waiting period of patients to get diagnosed through the scan has come down from 15 days to four days.

This facility is in addition to the existing C.T. Scan (six slice) machine.

Medical Education Minister Sharanprakash Patil, who inaugurated the new facility said an additional machine was required considering the ever increasing patient flow and the delay caused in diagnosis of patients in the institute.

The Minister also inaugurated a separate ladies hostel and accommodation for married students apart from one more floor in the existing PG hostel. The out-patient department of Gynaec Oncology that has been renovated to provide better facilities was also thrown open for patients.
