In yet another suspected child sexual abuse, a 21-year-old man raped a four-year-old girl living next to his home in Venkatapura under Madiwala police station limits on Saturday.
Police identified the suspect as Gajendra, who works as a painter. They arrested him after the girl’s parents made a complaint. The child was left in the care of her elder brother. In the afternoon, he went out with his friends, leaving the child all alone in the house. Her father, who works for a private firm, was away at work, while her mother had gone to a grocery shop. Just then, the suspect saw the girl, went into the house, raped her and fled.
When the mother came back, the child complained of intense pain in her private parts. The family took her to a nearby hospital where doctors confirmed the sexual assault, police said.
The parents then went to the Madiwala police station and made a complaint. Police registered a case of rape and, based on the girl’s recollection of the incident, picked up Gajendra. The girl later identified him. Police said Gajendra had confessed to the crime.
He has been booked under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC and sections 4 and 6 of the Pocso Act, 2012.
