Bengaluru: According to  data compiled by the Karnataka Private Schools’ Joint Action Committee, around 100 schools in the city are running illegally.

Mr. LR Shivaramegowda president of the committee, says that these schools are running without any recognition from the state government.

According to the documents he released at a press conference here on Friday, Mr. Gowda informed that Narayana Techno school, which is booked under various provisions of IPC and RTE, is running 19 schools and only four have valid permission.

Chaithanya Techno School is running 10 schools while only four have permissions. “VIBGYOR, ORCHIDS, the international school and Chrysalis High are also following the same tactics.

According to our findings more than 100 such schools are operating  in the city without  fear of any government agency. We want an action plan by the state government to close down these unauthorised schools,”’ he urged.

“DPI can accommodate children studying in these schools, in other schools. We will raise the issue with MHRD, CBSE and ICSE boards,” he said.

Complaint to Lokayukta
Mr. Gowda stated that DPI’s faulty policies and poor monitoring system has led to this problem across the city. “We will soon approach the state Lokayukta seeking an investigation on how these schools were allowed to operate over the years without any government recognition,” he said.

Meanwhile Case against Narayana E-Techno School for cheating parents

A criminal case has been registered against a school where seven people from the management have been accused of cheating innocent parents by Bengaluru South DDPI Padmavathi K.

The Koramangala police have registered an FIR against the managing director, principal and other members of Narayana E-Techno School and PU College. Dr Narayana P., managing director of the group, is the prime accused who is based in Andhra Pradesh, while the other accused are Ramadevi, Koteshwara Rao, Vinay Kumar, Indira and two others.

Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 418 (cheating with knowledge that wrongful loss may ensue to person whose interest offender is bound to protect), and 420 (cheating) have been slapped against the accused.

They have also been booked under Section 18 class V under the Right To Education Act 2009. The school management has been accused of misleading the parents and students by making them believe that the school had CBSE affiliation, while in reality, it had the approval to run only classes from nursery to fifth standard in Kannada medium.

“Various BEOs of the city are looking into the issue of unrecognised schools across the city. Four other corporate schools operating across the city are also under the scanner,” said a senior officer from the department.
