Bengaluru: An alleged suicide note, which the police claimed to have recovered from inside the schoolbag of the 14-year-old girl who died under questionable circumstances, was reportedly written by her.

The report from the Forensic Science Laboratory, Madiwala has reportedly confirmed that the handwriting in the so-called ‘suicide note’ was that of the girl, who died on October 31 in Tirthahalli in Shivamogga district.

According to highly placed sources the forensic handwriting analysis of the ‘death’ note has reportedly confirmed that the writing in the note is indeed that of the girl.

“The style, strokes, the pressure on some alphabets, is unique to a person’s handwriting. The handwriting experts have found the writing in the note matching with that of the deceased girl,” said an official source on condition of anonymity.

In the note, the child had reportedly apologized to her parents for her poor academic performance and asked them to take care of her younger sibling, who is reported to be 11 months old.

“While the FSL report confirms that the note was written by her, the investigation will remain incomplete unless the Criminal Investigation Department sleuths get the viscera report from the Laboratory on the real cause of death.

There is no clinching evidence in this case because the body was cremated. In a medico-legal case body should be buried so that it can be  exhumed for detailed investigation on the cause of death,” the officer added.

The handwriting report will thrown fresh light on the highly politicised death of the teenager, who according to her father’s  police complaint, was kidnapped by three unknown men on her way to school, who sexually assaulted her and gave her something suspicious to drink.

The Tirthahalli police had registered the First Information Report (FIR) (Crime number 352) under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (assault or criminal force to woman with intention to outrage her modesty) against unknown persons.

Her autopsy report had ruled out sexual assault or physical injury on the deceased teenager but shows that she suffered two heart attacks, within minutes of each other.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had handed over the case to the CID on November 4 following public outrage against the girl’s death under mysterious circumstances.
