Mysore: The NR police here have arrested two juveniles on the charge of sexually assaulting a minor girl at Hudco Layout in Bannimantap.
The suspects, aged 14 and 16, allegedly raped the eight-year-old girl on November 3. The incident came to light on Thursday.
The girl, an orphan, was being raised by a tea vendor at Hudco Layout. On Monday, the girl’s foster father had left her in the care of his friend in the same locality before going out of town on some work.
According to the girl, the son of her father’s friend and his friend sexually assaulted her. The duo threatened her at knifepoint and said they would kill her if she disclosed the incident to anybody. The 14-year-old boy is in class 8 while his elder peer does menial job.
The next day, when her father returned, the girl is said to have developed acute pain in her legs. She narrated the incident to her father, who along with the help of two neighbours, took her to a private hospital nearby.
The doctor medically examined her and confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted. He referred her to Cheluvamba Hospital for further tests, as it is mandatory for such cases to be dealt at a government hospital.
On Thursday, an irate mob that had gathered at the girl’s house succeeded in tracing the two boys, then went on to forcibly disrobe and beat them with clubs. Later, the mob handed them over to the police. A N Rajanna, DCP (law and order), visited the spot. The suspects were produced before a court and remanded to the Government Boys’ Home. A case has been registered.
Another minor raped
The Mudigere police in Chikmagalur district arrested a youth on the charge of raping a 17-year-old girl at Bilagula village on Wednesday.
The incident occurred in the morning when the victim was on her way to a bangles stores in the town where she works. The girl hails from Handaguli near Krishnapura. Jamaluddin, the suspect from Bilagula, dragged the girl into a car, drove to an isolated place at Bilagula village and raped her repeatedly.
Then he made the girl alight near the town panchayat water tank from where passersby took her to a hospital. The girl lodged a complaint with the Mudigere police late in the night.
The police have arrested Jamaluddin and seized his car. He has been remanded in judicial custody.
The girl has been admitted to the district hospital for further treatment.
