Taking exception to the continued sexual assaults on girls and women in Karnataka and the state government’s failure in tackling the issue, hundreds of students took out a protest march in Hubli on Monday.

In the protest march taken out under the aegis of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) hundreds of students participated. The protest march which began from various colleges in Vidyanagar reached Kittur Channamma Circle where a huge demonstration was staged.

Raising slogans against the state government and the Home Minister K.J. George, the students sought immediate effective steps to prevent recurrence of such acts. They also sought severe punishment to the perpetrators of these attacks. In the protest led by ABVP national secretary Vinay Bidare and other office bearers, an effigy of the state government was burnt.
