BENGALURU: A 65 year old man allegedly attempted to rape a two-year-old girl after luring her with chocolates. The locals and the girl’s parents, who found him undressing the girl, tried to catch him but he managed to escape.
The incident was reported in Islampur in Nelamangala Rural police station limits on the outskirts of the city on Saturday evening.
The accused, identified as Yasin Basha, lives with his two wives in Islampur. His son Sajaruddin is a member of Vishweshwarapura Gram Panchayat in Nelamangala.
A couple along with their children were living in the house located next to Basha’s house. Both the husband and the wife work as daily wage labourers. Their daughter was playing in front of the house on Saturday evening.
Meanwhile, Basha went to her and lured her with chocolates and took her inside the house. There he allegedly tried to rape her and the girl raised an alarm.
“Hearing her screams, the girl’s parents and other neighbours rushed to Basha’s house to find him undressing the girl. On seeing the locals, Basha managed to escape from another door of the house.
We have formed special teams to nab him and a case is registered against Basha under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He will be arrested soon,” Bengaluru Rural SP Ramesh B. told media.
