Untitled-2 copy_11Bangalore: A 56-year-old woman was found murdered at her residence on 4th main in Shankarnagara in Nandini Layout police station limits early Tuesday, and the police are yet to ascertain the motive behind the killing.

The victim, identified as Muddulakshmi, was found lying in a pool of blood outside her house with her gold chain and two bangles missing, while her nose-ring and earrings were intact. The intruders had bludgeoned her head. The investigating officials were not forthcoming about the degree of the murder or the description of the murder weapon.

The police are inquiring the background of the victim and her husband, questioning their relatives, and seeking details of the properties owned by the couple. “The victim was bludgeoned to death in the early morning while she was out of her house for some reason.

We do not know if she went out to buy milk or throw garbage. The house was locked and there was nothing on her, including her mobile phone that she had left at home, before she came out,” said a senior police officer. The cops are also questioning the neighbours if they had seen or heard the incident.

According to the police the victim’s husband, Thimmiah (62), a retired Karnataka Electricity Board (KEB) employee, had gone out for a walk around 5 am. When he returned at 6.45 am, his brother’s son Ramesh informed him about Muddulakshmi lying in a pool of blood near their residence. The neighbours had alerted the police.

The murder could have happened somewhere between 6 am and 6.30 am, the police said. They carried out preliminary investigation and then shifted the body to Ramaiah Hospital for post-mortem. The couple has one daughter who is marred.

Senior police officers including Harishekaran, Additional Commissioner of Police (Admin) and Deputy Commissioner of Police, (North Division) T.R. Suresh visited the spot to take the stock of the situation.

A case of murder has been registered and a special team has been formed under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner of Police Malleswaram to investigate the murder.
