Bangalore: With green horn P R SudhakarLal of JD(S) dashing the hopes of Congress leader G Parameshwara of becoming chief minister by defeating him by over 18,000 votes, high command has given a ray of hope for the dalit leader.

A day after assembly poll results, the buzz in Congress circle is that Parameshwara may be asked to continue as KPCC president till the LokSabha polls are completed. Rumours are that parliament election may be held in October/November and the party wants dalit leader to continue and play social justice card in polls.

Congress leader Siddaramaiah soon after reaching Bangalore on Wednesday evening visited Parameshwara’s residence and held close door meeting for nearly an hour. Details of the meeting were not known.

Sources said that the Congress may accommodate KPCC chief in the Upper House after some months as 3-4 vacancies are up for grabs following resignation of BJP MLCs to join former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa headed Karnataka Janata Party (KJP). A vacancy in Rajya Sabha will also be created as Anil Lad after his election to Bellary assembly seat will have to resign his parliament membership.

Meanwhile, Parameshwara on Thursday was involved in stock taking business for his defeat. His close circle were also involved in analyzing the booth wise polling pattern in Koratagere.
