Siddaramaiah flags off Dasara Amanthrana Ratha in Mysore

An artistically designed ‘rath’ (chariot) will tour across the State inviting the people to witness the ten-day Dasara festivities, which begin on September 25.

The ‘Dasara Amanthrana Rath’ has been converted into a “publicity chariot” for inviting people to be part of the celebrations.

The vehicle’s exterior had been pasted with posters on Dasara and details on events to happen in the city. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah flagged off the Dasara Amanthrana Rath, an initiative of the Dasara Publicity Sub-committee, at Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple in front of the Balarama Gate of Mysore palace here on Sunday.

Minister in-charge of Mysore district V. Srinivas Prasad, Public Works Department Minister H.C. Mahadevappa; Tanveer Sait, MLA; sub-committee president K. Deepak, and Women’s Commission Chairperson Manjula Manasa were present.

According to the organisers, the chariot would go around the State till the month-end and return to the city. It is expected to cover the district as well as taluk headquarters in the next fortnight. A music group will escort the ‘rath’. Meanwhile, the Dasara publicity sub-committee has decided to install promotional billboards at public places like railway stations, bus terminuses and other places to promote the event. Posters on Dasara would also be pasted on inter-city and inter-State buses.

Promotion of Mysore Dasara through advertisements and hoardings will be stepped up in the coming days.
