Strike at Bantwal Polytechnic Continues

Bantwal, September 1: The strike conducted by the Polytechnic students at Bantwal under the ABVP claiming the torture by the teaching faculty has continued even on Monday. The students who are protesting in the college campus since past few days have demanded to suspend the accused lecturers immediately.

Investigation by the authorities:

The principal Mr Sunil had submitted a report to the technical education department about the strike taken up by the students for torturing them physically and mentally by the three lecturers Dr Chennagiri Gowda, Tejaswini and Bharath. In regard to this issue a team from the technical education department had visited the college to gather information from the students and the accused lecturers.

It has also taken a written complaint from the students. The students have revealed other problems such as the lack of toilet facility, group-ism among the lecturers and other problems. The students have been assured that the issue will be discussed with the higher authorities and the accused lecturers will be suspended from service on Tuesday.

The ABVP Mangalore division Secretary Mr Jayaprakash has revealed to the media that they were continually carrying on the strike with a demand to suspend the accused lecturers. Even though the lecturer, Dr Chennagiri Gowda is appointed for a government service, he is carrying on some private works and it is also brought before the investigation team. They have informed that the strike will be continued until the lecturer is suspended from service.

The college campus was under Police surveillance the strike had gone to extreme state.
