Pilikula Nisargadhama model will be opted to develop Kadalkere Tank

Mangalore, Septrmber 1: On Sunday August 31staround 28,000 fingerlings were released into Kadalakere Nisargadhama tank at Ontikatte in Moodbidri. On this occasion, boating service was also opened to the public.

The programme which was organised by Rotary Club in association with the Department of Forest and Fisheries, fingerlings belonging to different species of fish were let into the tank.

The state minister for youth services and fisheries, K Abhaychandra Jain, inaugurated the boating service was by taking joyride here in one of the boats.

On this occasion Mr Jain said that Kadalakere is being developed on the model of Pilikula Nisargadhama near Mangalore and at a cost of one crore rupees during 2012-13, the de-silting work had been undertaken in this tank.

“A stadium has been built with an investment of Rs 25 lakhs. I will put in efforts to secure more government grants for the development of this tank and its surroundings. I will also provide two water scooters for the benefit of those who want to have fun here within six weeks”, he promised.

On this occasion, Assistant forest conservator, Kishore Kumar Shetty, deputy director of fisheries, M D Prasad, assistant director, Parshwanath, Rotary Club president, Dr Muralikrishna, directors of Kadalakere, Dr L C Soans and N S Rego, municipal president, Supriya D Shetty, standing committee chairman, Basheer, Bar Association president, K Ratnakar Devadiga, municipal councillors, Anil Lobo, Suresh Kotian, Roopa S Shetty, and several other dignitaries were present.
