DK Kannada Sahitya Parishat paid tribute to Dr U R Ananthamurthy

Mangalore Aug 26: DK Kannada Sahitya Parishat organized a condolence meet to renowned later litterateur Dr U R Ananthamurthy at SDM College auditorium on Monday August 25.

Speaking on the occasion, Satyanarayana Mallipatna, principal, University College, said Ananthmurthy had faced many controversies in the country. His love towards Kannada literature has increased the followers of Kannada in Western countries too.

He also said that, many outside the State identified Karnataka with Ananthamurthy. He began his rebellion from home and expanded it to the society at large and this could be seen in the works.

Jnanpith award winner U.R. Ananthamurthy had earnestly recorded the tumultuous developments in socio-cultural milieu of his time through his works, he added.

Dr Prabhakar Joshi said that, URA was criticized because he opposed and questioned the inhuman and anti-life practices in the surroundings, which would adversely affect one’s creativity, he said.

Kannada Sahitya Parishat former president Harikrishna Punaroor, district president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Sitharam, Former MLA Kumble Sundar Rao, B S Hasanabba, M P Shetty, Mohammed Baddoor, Kasargod Umesh, Prabhakar, Prakash and others were present.
