Mangalore, August 25: An Ox which was the sole friend of a Dog since the past 10 years had died. The Dog was found guarding the mortal remains of the Ox and was also crying silently which was really heart rendering incident which took place at Attavara in the city. The public were moved at this incident and curious too.
In Attavara area of the city, since 10 years; a Dog and an Ox were always moving together. The locals had named the Ox as Shambu. The affection of the Ox and Dog was to such an extent that, when the ox was sleeping at night, the dog used to guard it and the dog slept only when the ox wokeup…recalled the locals.
Accidently, on Sunday afternoon around 1.30p.m; an ox was found dead close to Jain’s Compound. Due to its departure, a Dog which was found to be completely moved; was guarding the mortal remains of the ox and was not letting anyone to move close to it nor to shift the mortal remains to any place.
Later, sincemore than 500 people had gathered in the place, the dog moved to some distance and remained waiting there. In the mean time, the local youths dug a ditch of 6 foot in length, 5 foot in depth and buried the ox there. Prior to that the ox was made to take bath, a white cloth was spread over it and garland was offered on it as a token of respect.
After the people’s departure, the Dog has slept near the burial place of the Ox and is quietly weeping there.
