CM Siddaramaiah to inaugurate ’Mangalore Dasara’ on Sep 27

Mangalore, Aug 22: Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah will formally inaugurate Mangalore Dasara at Shri Kudroli Gokarnatheshwara temple premises on September 27, Saturday at 6.30pm, stated Former Union minister and Kudroli Temple chief patron B Janardhan Poojary in a press release.

It is learnt that, Mangalore Dasara is being held in the city with a grand manner from past two decades under the guidance of Poojary.

In the year 2012, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi had inaugurated Mangalore Dasara while in 2013 Sri Kshetra Dharmastala dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade launched the Navarathri celebrations.

This year CM Siddu has agreed to inaugurate Mangalore Dasara 2014 and in this regard preparations are in full swing to make Dasara vibrant, he added.

Although Navarathri festival is being celebrated in other temple in the city including Sri Mangaladevi Temple, Kudroli Temple has its own significance which celebrated in a unique way and is identified as ’Mangalore Dasara’.

Large number of tourists gets attracted towards the installation of Navadurga’s and Mahaganapathi idols during the festival and not forgetting the grand Mangalore Dasara procession held on end of the festival.

Poojary also stated that, the temple has been functioning as per the vision of Brahmashree Narayana Guru, a great reformer of Shivagiri in Kerala, of allowing devotees from all section of the society to enter the temple. In the year 1912, Narayana Guru himself had consecrated the Shivalinga at Kudroli temple at the time when backward communities and dalits were restricted to enter into the temples. Later on February 8, 1991, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi inaugurated the renovated temple.
