CPI(M) flags off statewide ‘Women against Violence’ awareness jatha

Kundapura, Aug 20: The members of district CPI(M) inaugurated ‘Women against Violence’ awareness jatha by handing over party’s flag to Kundapur Town Municipal  president Kalavathi U S at deceased Ratna Kotari’s house.

Speaking on the occasion, Kalavathi said that the mysterious death of Ratna has made the family member to suffer in pain. Such kind of jatha must be organized so that women in large number must come forward and fight against violence.

K Shankar district secretary of CPI(M) said that in the recent years the crimes such as rape and murder are increasing. The harassment against children, aged and physically challenged are being taking place very often. Hence the party will take out state wide jatha against this to create awareness among the general public.

The jatha commenced from Shiroor via Byndoor, Uppunda, Arehole cross Thrasi Hemmady Tallur Mavina Katte Kandlooru Basrur and culminated at Koni.

CPI (M) members Balakrishna Shetty, Dasa Bhandary, Mahabala Vaderahobali, Suresh Kallagara, Venkatesh Hemmady and Raju Devadiga were present.

During four days, the jatha will move across Udupi district and culminate at Kundapur on August 22. K S Vimala state leader of HMS will deliver the speech on the valedictory meeting.
