Mangalore, August 15: The  Deputy Commissioner of Mangalore A.B. Ibrahim has informed that in order to and make Mangalore City Corporation as a kerosene-free zone, the Commissioner of the Food Department has instructed the district administration to provide LPG connections to all BPL ( Non-LPG) card holders.

A.B. Ibrahim, further said that the MCC will take steps to provide LPG connections to concerned BPL card holders by utilizing the 22.75% fund reserve for SC/ST welfare, 7.25 % meant for low income families and 3% available fund for welfare of the disabled.

Kerosene supplies to fair price shops will be stopped within next two months and the city will be declared as a kerosene-free zone, he added.

Towards this direction, the BPL card holders in Puttur, Ullal and Moodabidre TMCs, Mulki, Belthangady, Sullia and Bantwal Town Panchayats too have been intimated to take steps. More details can be gathered by contacting the Deputy Director of food and civil supplies department ,he stated.
