Mangalore, May 2: Vasanth V Salian, former minister, who is contesting as JD(S) candidate after being denied a congress ticket from Kaup constituency, alleged that congress candidate Vinay Kumar Sorake had schemed at the high command level to deny him congress ticket.”Sorake and his company had played a major role to see that senior congress leader B Janardhana Poojary was defeated in Mangalore Parliamentary constituency. He challenged that this claim can be proved as I got enough materials to prove my claim, he said.

Speaking to media persons on Wednesday Salian even told that Sorake was trying to be a BJP candidate in the 2009 parliamentary elections. But his efforts did not yield any result.
Salian said that Sorake claims that he did not lobby for the congress ticker from Kaup and it is Sonia who gave him a ticket. This means there was no other young or capable leader in all the 29 gram Panchayat limits of Kaup to give the ticket to an outsider like Sorake, who is from Puttur. It implies that Sorake, Oscar Fernandez, Veerappa Moily, Janardhan Poojary and G.Parameshwara are not leaders. The congress cheated me because I was assured a ticket till the last minute and they did not take me in to confidence while giving the ticket to Sorake, Salian added.
Announcing that it was the last election he was contesting, Salian promised to construct a dam at pangala, Kurkalu and Shirva to provide drinking water to nearby places.
He also promised to set up a Jasmine Growers Society to promote Shankarapura mallige.
