Mangalore ,Aug.06:There is a request from the local’s to start up the Gulabi gang at Karnataka including Bidar & Mangalore it would be thought regarding the same- said the Gulabi Gang’s founder Ms Sampath Devipal. On attending a function at Mangalore; speaking to the media ,she said that she had visited Bidar ; where there was a request from the women’s to start up the gang & now there is a demand even at Mangalore.
Answering the media she said ,this gang is working towards bringing a social reform in the society with regard to assault of women & rape cases & nearly 4-lakh activists are working towards it .The association’s intention is not to take the law into its hands, but to respond immediately to the assault of women & fight righteously towards it. There will be an yearly meet & monthly a meeting will be held. Those who are misusing the association’s name are already dropped out, Mr Jayaprakash is one among them .
Case is filed even against me!
Ms Sampath Devipal said that two cases have been filed against her ,because of which she is unable to get a passport & the case is at court .She had visited few countries already & since her passport is seized , she is unable move abroad .If the passport is not handed over, the gang members would be going to surround the passport office officials.
Movie has’ent taken our consent
A Hindi movie has been released regarding Gulabi Gang. They have’nt taken our consent , we have’nt used rifle’s for our protest at any moment. But rifle has been used in the cinema ,which reveals a wrong message. Regarding this a defamation suit would be filed at court, she added.
The party & protest are not linked.
I have contested for the election through the Congress party ,where in which the party is different from our protest. Had I been to the Parliament, I would have raised my voice against harassment of women, she said .
Speaking about the private cops act at D.K by the Hindus & Muslims she said, each one has to take his own decision as to how to live in the society ,it’s not fair on the part of the association to decide it. We should live with unity, forget the caste & show our one-ness.
