Karkala, July 31: In yet another case of sexual harassment on student, a high school teacher has been arrested by Hebri police. The teacher Venkatramana Kalkura of the Shivapura Government High School is being accused of sexually harassing a high school girl.
Venkatramana is a maths teacher in the school, and was arrested by the Hebri police on July 31, Thursday following a complaint by the girl recently, however the incident is learnt to have taken place about six months ago.
Months ago, the girl had brought the matter to the notice of Hindi Teacher Prabhavathi, but she along with the Gram Panchaayat President Suresh Shetty had reportedly threatened the girl of horrible consequences if she revealed the matter before her parents.
But the girl had revealed the matter to her parents only on July 30 following which a complaint was lodged.
The police have taken Prabhavathi and Suresh into custody for further investigation.
