Mangalore, July 28: “Aatidonji Dina” was jointly organised by Karnataka State Devadigara Sangha (R) Women and Youth Organizations, at the Samaja Bhavan, Gandhi Nagar, Mannagudda here on Sunday, July 27.
Smt. Geeta V. Kalyanpur, President of Karnataka State Devadigara Sangha (R) Women’s unit presided over the Programme. The programme was inaugurated by Social activist Sharmila Harish Sherigar along with Yashoda Mohandas and other dignitaries on the dais.
Renuthakshi, serving as Kannada lecturer at SDM College of Business Management, Mangalore briefed about the true meaning of Aati and the celebrations.
Shaila Rao was felicitated during the occasion for stitching the convocation ceremony dress of the President of India, Pranab Mukerjee which he wore during the Central University-Kerala Annual convocation few days ago.
Former president of the Sangha, Veni Maroli spoke on the occasion. Sumati Bai welcomed the gathering. Geetha V Kallianpur delivered the presidential address.Shrinivas Devadiga hosted and Shobha Padavinangadi presented the vote of thanks.

A cooking competition was organised for women. There were more than 38 participants who brought various dishes. Social activist Sharmila Harish Sherigar and Yashoda Mohandas were the judges for the cooking competition.
The traditional dishes prepared in the month of Aati were the theme of cooking competition, the women prepared these dishes and presented in the competition. Dishes like, Pathrade, Thojanku da ambade, Pelakaida Gatti, NurgeIreda ambade, Pelakaida payasa, pelakaida garige Tajank da upkari, Huruli Chutney, Thonjankda Chattambade, Chilimbidaade, Menthe Ganji, Pundi, Timare Chatni, Huruli Voggarane, Metheda payasa, maruvai pundi, bendeda ghasi, pundi ghasi, Pattholi, moode, gatti, puttu, kottige etc were the major attraction. Later the dishes were distributed to the gathering.
First and Second prizes were distributed to the individuals and the teams participating in the competition.
After the formal function, a Cultural programme was organised. “Aati Kalenja” a beautiful play was presented by Devadiga Sangha Pavanje.
