Mangalore, July 26: Condemning the rising cases of sexual assaults on women in the state, a protest was organised in front of the DC office in the city on July 25, Friday by various Hindu outfits including the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bhajrangdal, Durga Vahini and Matra Mandali.
Speaking on the ocassion, Jithendra Kottari, VHP leader said there has been a rise in cases of rapes in the state ever since the Congress assumed power. Women are having a feeling of insecurity, he said and charged the chief minister of remaining in a state of snooze.
Ministers from the district Ramanatha Rai, Abhayachandra Jain, Vinay Kumar Sorake and other Congress leaders were accused by Jagadish Shenava, another VHP leader for dozing off in the assembly while it was seriously discussing the crimes against women.
Bhajrangdal leader Bhujangala Kulal, Gopal Kuttar, District Secretary of VHP, Vijayashree Pumpwell of Matra Mandali, Surekha, Convenor of Durgavahini and others participated in the protest.
