“Utilize technology for growth” KCCI urges entrepreneurs

Mangalore, July 24: Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) organised a session on ‘Technology for Business Growth’ on Wednesday July 23. In the session it urged the small and medium business community to tap the enormous potential of technology especially that of the internet to boost their trade.

Nigam B Vasani, KCCI vice-president speaking on the occasion said, “About 150 IT and BPO companies are working in and around Mangalore. Altogether, these companies are providing employment to 15,000 people. A few of the companies have international clients and the business community of the port city is yet to tap the services of these companies to enhance their business.”

“The small and medium enterprises (SME) are the major beneficiaries as the IT solution we are offering is much more cost-effective compared to putting out advertisements in other media,” said Vaibhav Pai, the representative of Host Gator, a web hosting company.

i-POINT Consulting Services Private Limited, a company based in Mangalore, has been offering a solution to companies in putting in place a mandatory awareness system on the critical issue of sexual harassment at work places. “The solution is a blend of online and offline packages which comprises of educating employees on the new anti-harassment law, conducting workshops ets,” said Vineeth Bhat, a director of the company.

Praveen Kumar Kalbhavi, chairman of the IT sub-committee of KCCI, also spoke on the occasion. Many entrepreneurs from small and medium industries were present on the occasion.
