Mangalore,july,21: Karnataka Bank, ISO 27001:2005 certified for it’s IT infrastructures , is conducting a 5 days training programme on “ Lead Auditor ISMS – ISO 27001:2013” and preparing itself for upgrading it’s certification under the new standard “ISO 27001:2013”, which is internationally recognized as one of the best Information Security framework.
While inaugurating the programme, Shri. Mahabaleshwara M S, Chief General Manager of the Bank said “A couple of decades ago, in the absence of IT in banking industry, customers were deprived of the ease and convenience with which customers do their transactions in this IT environment today. The advent of Information Technology is rapidly changing the banking industry. The ability of technology to bring together various aspects of banking, the alternate delivery channels like ATM, Internet Banking has added phenomenal value to every day banking transactions for customers.
As broadening our reach and access to banking is the key to drive growth in business, innovations in technology is inevitable . However, new technology is bound to have a few security threats which is a matter of concern for the industry. In this line, currently, Banking industry is very much concerned about the increase of cyber fraud. Bank has ‘defence-in-depth’ IT security in place. However, our main concern is possible phishing attack on bank’s customers. Hence, before it hits hard on our customers, we decided to take steps to safeguard our customer’s interest. Bank is creating awareness amongst it’s customers by sending periodic “security awareness message” through SMS and e-mail.
Bank has also displayed Security awareness messages and posters at all branches. The Do’s and Don’ts are displayed at branches, mainly for Debit Card and Internet Banking customers. Staff members of our Bank are educating the customers and apprising them that “SEC_RITY” is not complete without “U” (the customers).
To strengthen our Bank’s Information Security team, Bank is now providing “Lead Auditor ISMS – ISO 27001:2013 course” to select executives and officers of the Bank. ”
Suresh .K, Deputy General Manager welcomed all and Shri. Raghavendra Bhat M, General Manager, highlighted the need and the importance of Information Security. Sri. Upendra Prabu, General Manager addressed the gathering and Senior executives of the Bank were also present. Shri.
