Officials conduct raid, sand and truck seized

Mangalore, July 12: The sand stored for transporting to Kerala was seized by a team including DC A.B. Ibrahim, Puttur Tahsildar, Revenue Inspectors, PWD engineer and others.

The raid was conducted by DC based on a complaint. The team seized 16.5 loads of sand stored illegally, at Karnoor in Nettanige village of Puttur taluk on Friday evening.

As per the officials, the sand was stored by Ashraf and Safi, 12 loads of sand was stored in the land belonging to Abdulla. In the land belonging to Babu, two and half loads of sand was stored and in the land belonging to Ibrahim, two loads of sand was stored.

The official said that FIR is to be filed against the land owners for allowing individuals to store sand illegally.

Lorries seized:

In another incident, officials from mines and geology department seized seven Lorries transporting sand to Kerala illegally, at Talapady on July 11. Acting on information that lorries with Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka registration are transporting sand illegally, the officials conducted a raid.

During the inspection a new concept came into light, the officials found two lorries transporting sand mixed with cement.
