Mangalore, Jul 10: Water flooded into classrooms at Mahesh PU College, Kottara Chowki here on Thursday July 10 after a large overhead tank burst.
Campus in charge Deepak said that the college had installed the Syntex water tank, with a capacity of 25,000 litres, just about a year ago.
The water that gushed out of the tank flooded into classrooms and made it impossible for students to even enter. The cleaning staff got busy flushing the water out. Due to water seeping into nooks and corners of the building, electricity lines have been damaged and so also ACs and other equipment.
The College declared a three-day holiday, until the entire building is cleaned and the situation turns to normal.
