Kundapura, June 10: The Kollur villagers have called for a bandh on June 11 as a mark of protest against the Kollur Math’s stand on the transfer of the Samadhi of Sri Vimalanand Swamiji.
The leaders of various social associations had called a meeting on the evening of Sunday, June 8, to declare their stand on the Samadhi issue. Leaders who attended the meeting have decided to call for a bandh.
The meeting was presided by Lakshmidevi Aital, president, Kollur Gram Panchayat. More than 500 people representing different organisations participated in the meet and expressed their angst in the way which the Math conducted itself.
The members warned that if the no steps are taken to shift the Samadhi then the protest will escalate to violent proportions. The protesters will be addressed by the local leaders.
Puroshotham Jois, president, Grama Hitharakshana Samithi, Chandra Balegar, secretary, Sridhar Adiga, priest of the temple, Women’s Forum, Auto Rickshaw Union, Jeep Drivers Association, Nagarika Hitarakshana Vedike members and others were present.
