Mangalore/Udupi: Mangalore city as well as other parts of Dakshina Kannada district received intermittent rain on Monday.

In fact, rain and sun seemed to play hide and seek a few times. However, the Port City is yet to receive ‘real rain,’ seen every year.

Udupi district received 34.6 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. While Karkala taluk recorded 17.4 mm rainfall, Udupi recorded 7 mm and Kundapur received 10.2 mm rainfall.

No damage was reported from anywhere in the district. Fishermen have been warned against venturing into the sea, following a depression in the Arabian Sea. Fishing boats that are already out in the sea have been asked to reach the shore immediately.

Though the monsoon rains are yet to start in the coastal districts, sea erosion has already begun in Ullal, much to the surprise of many. Usually, sea erosion begins only after the region receives good or heavy rains.
